Bells in Lympne Church

Lympne Bellringers

We ring before the 11.00 am service on Sunday mornings.

We normally practice on Monday evenings at 7.30pm and the well kept ringing chamber is accessed via a spiral staircase.

For more information please contact our Tower Captain, Brian Butcher.

The bellringing team enjoy ringing before the regular Sunday services, take part in competitions and occasionally ring quarter peals or peals. New members and beginners are welcome to come and learn the art of bellringing.

Our bells

Lympne church has 8 bells; a treble, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and tenor that are hung for full circle ringing.

History

Records show 4 bells were in Lympne church tower in 1552. These were recast in 1742 to produce a set of 5 bells which are still in use today.

In 1951 a treble was added and more recently in 2015 two additional trebles added, giving 8 in total.
